Abstract

We have developed a regional Environmental Input-Output (EIO) method for integrated triple-bottom line assessment of the pastoral sector in two regions of New Zealand. This paper describes and discusses the development of the methodology and a process to dissagregate pastoral industries using detailed farm surveys to increase the understanding of the economic structure of regional Sheep and Beef (SNB) and dairy sectors. Selected results are presented for one region to illustrate EIO outcomes. The method is proposed as a useful tool for regional policy evaluation in the pastoral sector.
