Mathis Wackemagel
Mathis Wackernagel is Executive Director of Global Footprint Network, a non-profit research organization that supports the creation of a sustainable economy by advancing the policy-utility of the Ecological Footprint (www.footprintnetwork.org). The goal is to make ecological limits central to decision-making everywhere. Mathis has worked with governments, businesses and civil society organizations on sustainability issues and lectured at more than 100 universities on all continents (minus Antarctica). Mathis created with Professor William Rees the "Ecological Footprint" concept, now a widely used sustainability measure. Mathis' research interests include resource accounting, sustainability policy and theory of social change.
